#WeAreOneNet: Sky Pettett

Sky Pettett

Where are you from?

I grew up south of Lane, Oklahoma. I went to high school in Atoka and college in Durant.

How long have you worked at OneNet?

Six years—since July 2014.

Describe what you do on an everyday basis.

My days are focused on answering emails, participating in meetings and handling any issues that arise. I  also watch out for the Network Operations Center (NOC) team and try to get them home at a reasonable hour.

What brought you to OneNet?

After graduating from college, I applied several places but hadn’t really found what I was looking for. My professor knew Robert Nordmark at OneNet and said I should check out OneNet. I contacted Robert, and he said they had an intern position opening up and may have a full-time position opening up soon. I interviewed for the intern spot, but before I heard back about that position, I saw the full-time position open on the website. I interviewed for that spot as well, and they seemed to have liked me, because I got the full-time network support engineer. That is where the adventure began.

What do you wish more people knew about OneNet?

How large our customer base really is, all the people we are capable of helping and the different services that we can provide.

What is your favorite part about working here?

I like the people that I work with, but I would have to say my favorite part is helping our customers. I like helping all of them but specifically the smaller ones that don’t always have someone on staff to help. It is a good feeling to help with the long-term issues that a school or library may have resigned to live with before reaching out to OneNet for assistance.
