OneNet’s Purchasing and Fixed Assets Department Keeps OneNet Going
The team that keeps OneNet going works quietly but makes a big contribution to OneNet’s operations. The OneNet purchasing and fixed assets department includes Lee Diamond, manager, Teresa Broughton-Anderson, fixed assets coordinator, and the department’s newest member, Wang Yang, purchasing specialist.
Behind the scenes, the purchasing team keeps OneNet running smoothly by managing everything from travel arrangements and reimbursements to vendor requisitions and major equipment purchases. Whether it is pencils for conferences or the high-tech equipment powering the OneNet Network Operations Center, this small but mighty team ensures OneNet has exactly what it needs to serve the state.
“OneNet could not function without the purchasing and fixed assets team. We make sure OneNet has what it needs to function at a high level,” Diamond said.
Managing 7,000 assets statewide, worth nearly $74 million, is no small feat. Though their work often goes unnoticed, its impact is felt across the organization. Every purchase, big or small, contributes to keeping OneNet running at a high level.
It’s not flashy work, but it’s vital work
Leadership
While their work often runs smoothly, even small hurdles, such as ensuring products are accurately described on quotes, highlight the detail-oriented nature of this team. Beyond these challenges, leadership plays a vital role, which Diamond provides. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accuracy, Diamond prioritizes detail and solutions, opening up opportunities for efficiency within the department.
Diamond demonstrates leadership through encouragement and collaboration, making sure his team feels supported and equipped to succeed.
“I try to focus on proactive problem-solving and adaptability to ever-changing needs. I believe this commitment allows us to hopefully not only meet but often exceed the agency’s expectations,” Diamond said.
Fixed Assets
No two days are the same for OneNet’s fixed assets coordinator, but Broughton-Anderson handles the unpredictability with positivity and humility. While her role has its challenges, she overcomes them by taking the time to understand the equipment she works with. Broughton-Anderson studies each piece of equipment and how everything connects, giving her the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed.
“There’s an excitement in getting it right,” she said, finding fulfillment in her work. Beyond the tasks themselves, Broughton-Anderson also enjoys moments of connection with her coworkers, whether it’s shared food or simply taking a break together.
Broughton-Anderson’s passion comes from knowing her work matters. She ensures OneNet’s assets are managed with care—a responsibility she takes pride in.
Purchasing
Yang, the newest asset to the team, brings a fresh perspective to the department. As a purchasing specialist, Yang ensures her tasks are completed carefully and precisely. Her day can range from administrative work and checking emails to completing vendor requests. Yang does what needs to be done to assist her team. A key role of a purchasing specialist is to acquire the necessary resources for OneNet to carry out work effectively and efficiently.
Yang believes communication, teamwork, and active listening are important factors in making her job run smoothly.
She has quickly adapted to the fast pace of the work, learning from her colleagues while bringing her own skills to the table.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone and learning more about everyone’s role within OneNet,” Yang said. As one of the newest members, Yang appreciates the camaraderie and opportunity to learn from her colleagues.
Each team member brings their own strengths—whether it’s problem-solving, organization, or simply keeping the atmosphere positive.
Behind the scenes, the purchasing and fixed assets team keeps OneNet running smoothly in ways most people never see. From coordinating purchases and managing $74 million worth of assets to tackling small but critical details, their work safeguards the network’s success. Beyond just their tasks, they accomplish this through team collaboration and dedication.
Whether it’s Diamond providing leadership so the team can succeed, Broughton-Anderson finding excitement in mastering each piece of equipment, or Yang taking advantage of the chance to learn from colleagues, each member contributes their own strengths.
Together, they make vital contributions to OneNet’s team, quietly ensuring everything is in place so the organization can thrive.
