How long have you worked for your organization?

Almost 25 years!

Describe what you do on an everyday basis.

I wear several hats. At OSCER, my main focus is to help other researchers to get their code running (or improved) at the OSCER high-performance computing cluster—Schooner. In the high energy physics group, I’m in charge of all computing aspects related to the ATLAS experiment at CERN. For both OSCER and OUHEP, I’m ensuring that we utilize all computing and network resources as efficiently as possible.

How long has your organization been a OneNet customer?

For almost 25 years—or whenever OneNet started serving OU. 🙂

How does high-speed internet help your organization serve your community?

The ATLAS experiment generates PetaBytes of data every year, and as a Tier2 Computing Center, OU receives hundreds of TB a month delivered to process on Schooner. We regularly see transfers of up to 25 Gbps from other ATLAS sites worldwide, and OneNet enables us to do that.

Why are you a OneNet champion?

OneNet has been tremendously helpful in ensuring great network connectivity for OU, and we look forward to getting our bandwidth increased regularly. Since ATLAS data is expected to grow exponentially, we can basically fill any size pipe we get.
